School Board, Community’s Education Watchdog
Grandmothers, Mothers and Women (GMW), This is how we can be sure the education in our local public schools meets our expectations. I think a good place to start is by electing effective school board members; and today we’ll meet 3 candidates from Ward Three.
What do school boards do?
The school board’s primary responsibilities are to:
- Set the vision and goals for the district
- Adopt policies that give the district direction to set priorities
and achieve its goals.
- Hire and evaluate the superintendent
- Manage the collective bargaining process for employees of the district.
- Â
Great School Boards members adopt a fiscally sound district budget and pay attention to finances and regularly monitor the fiscal health of the district.
On May 1, 2018 we want to elect a great school board that will  focus on what is best for all students. They must also focus on student achievements and implementing policies that will ensure success for all students.
