Purpose
Community Activism: Is the collective effort of individuals within a community to bring about social, political, or environmental change. It involves advocating for the rights, needs, and well-being of the people, especially those who are marginalized or underserved.
As part of GMWSOC (Grandmothers, Mothers, and Their Children), community activism is about empowering families, strengthening support systems, and addressing issues that impact daily life, such as education, healthcare, housing, and social justice. It is driven by the belief that real change begins at the grassroots level, where those directly affected by challenges take the lead in finding solutions.
Community activism can take many forms, including organizing events, advocating for policy changes, supporting local initiatives, and fostering solidarity among community members. Through awareness, education, and action, GMWSOC and similar organizations can create lasting positive change, ensuring a better future for generations to come.
