Founder Geri Collins In 2002 Grandmothers, mothers and women saving our children was born (GMWSOC) It was time for the hands that rocks the cradles to be heard so the hand burying our children could be put to better use. I knew the problems our children face were huge, the price was high and non-refundable and the currency was their lives. I’m a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who realized it was going to take a village to raise a child; but the village needed to be fixed by us, (GMW), before we could trust our children to it. GMW of VA. Our children are more important than guns. We need to let them know, “ We love and, care about them. We have the Power To Protect Them with Our: Vote, Dollars, God and Love.

All 140 seats in Va. General assembly has to be filled this November. Will they put our children first We need a majority in theGeneral Assembly that’s going to legislate on our behalf. Not #45’s MAGA agenda. Whose brand promotes supremacy and is toxic.

For the parents has lost children to Gun violence this Mother’s Day was extremely difficult, and they are pleading for people to put their guns down. We’re asking legislators to implement sensible gun laws, and ban assault weapons.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany Police are investigating five shootings. Ten people were shot, including two children.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Eight people were shot in two separate incidents  in Shreveport, LA.

Sunday, according to Chicago police data. There were at least 21 shootings incidents and 27 victims. Six (6 ) people fatally shot and one (1 ) person was stabbed to death.â€

A Gunman killed 3 people, wounded Two law enforcement officers, 4 civilians.   The 18 yr old  used 3 firearms and fired shot in 6 houses and 3 vehicles, in Farmington, New Mexico.

Under Governor Youngkin’s radical leadership, Virginia Republicans have spent 2023 voting down a range of bills that would have added new restrictions on firearms, including a ban on assault-style weapons, a college campus gun ban and a gun-storage bill.

The Choice is Ours:  GMW will continue to providing you with Facts until, November 7, 2023. Everything we say can be: FACT-CHECKED because, we know what’s true: We Have the power to make a change and protect our children.

On a 6-4 vote, a House Public Safety subcommittee defeated a bill from Democratic Del. Dan Helmer that would have expanded the definition of “assault firearm†and prohibited the import, sale, manufacture, purchase or transport of such these weapons.

Good and Gentle God, we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings.

Please grant her peace, patience and Your love and guidance as she raises her child [or children]. Please be with her each day as she does the work of two people on her own. Thank You for Single Mothers-and for Your blessings over their life. 

Mothers: Saving Ourselves, Defending Our Children. 

We say a special prayer for every mother who has lost a child, whether to illness, inadequate healthcare, violence, hunger, or racism. No mother wants wants to bury her child.

Admittedly there are numerous ways to defend and support our children and many viewpoints from which to do so. But let’s use utero where it all begins. As mothers, in order to defend, protect and support our children, we must defend and support ourselves against health crisis that is a threat to our very existence and thereby the existence of our children.

A Mother is capable of forgiving any wrongdoing. Mother is the most important woman in everyone’s life. A mother sacrifices her happiness for her child or children. No one else can care for their kids the way a Mother does.

Giving birth is just the beginning of a mother’s complex and significant role in raising a family throughout her life. Here are five roles of in a mother’s life that can help you understand the depths of responsibilities a mother must undergo.

Mothers play a critical role in the family, which is a powerful force for social cohesion and integration.  The mother-child relationship is vital for the healthy development of children. 

  1. If it weren’t for your mom, you wouldn’t be breathing.
  2. Mothers are the emotional backbones of the family.
  3. Who would kiss your boo-boos to make it all better if she weren’t around?
  4. Truly, our mothers worked hard and made sacrifices, so our lives would be better. 
  5. Mothers are forgiving—so forgive her in return.
  6. When you want to climb the tallest mountain, your mother will make your lunch for you.
  7. Her boundaries made you a better person.
  8. A mother’s ears and eyes hear and see everything.
  9. Mom taught you to be a functioning adult.
  10. A mother’s smile, when it is directed toward you, makes your day a whole lot better.

Root Causes of Gun Violence In Virginia

GMW our effort to eradicate gun violence is beginning in the state of Virginia because, Gun Violence is only the “Tip of The Iceberg “ of the tragic and dire consequences surrounding  the proliferation of guns in Virginia, disproportionately on black and brown people. 

The majority of Virginians support common-sense gun violence prevention policies.

The attempt of so many Americans perpetuating the myth that “black and brown lives don’t  matter.†CRT: Is the great fear many Americans have of our history, or is it a guilty conscious.

The first Slave Ship entered Virginia In late August, 1619; 20-30 enslaved Africans landed at Point Comfort, today’s Fort Monroe in Hampton, Va., aboard the English privateer ship White Lion.  Several days later, a second ship (Treasurer) arrived in Virginia with additional enslaved Africans. They are the first recorded Africans to arrive in England’s mainland American colonies.

PILGRIM AND SLAVE : AMERICAN HISTORY!!!

Mayflower anchored in Plymouth Harbor on Dec. 18, 1620. More than 30 million people can trace their ancestry to the 102 passengers and approximately 30 crew aboard the Mayflower when it landed. In August 1619 20-30 Africans arrived on board the White Lion, and several days later additional Africans arrived on the (Treasurer).

The psychological damage, the IMPACT of slavery has on one group, and the fear of retribution from the slave-holder has created a culture of fear and miss-trust. Where now, both sides need Guns to protect themselves from each other. This just one of the major block of the iceberg. 

Today gun are more readily available in communities of color than fresh-fruits. But the opioid problem devastating the white communities is being treated as a mental health problem, with solutions being found daily to stem the opioid impact. 

But, sensible gun laws seems to be an impossible task to accomplish. Assault Weapons are legal for one reason: KILLING LOTS OF PEOPLE at one time. But banning those weapons seems to be a daunting task.

Our Children Are Hurting; THE VIOLENCE, IS KILLING THEM:

MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY, SPIRITUALLY and Finally, PHYSICALLY-Taking Their Lives. THEY NEED TO KNOW, â€œWE SEE THEM, WE HEAR THEM, WE CAN PROTECT THEM And SHOW THEM WE CARE.

To all eligible Virginians, if you’re a  registered voter be prepared to vote. If you are not registered, please do so. if your rights have not been restored, and you’re not sure how to do it, please contact me on this blog or any of my social medias and I’ll help you. 

To all Virginians: The 140 seats in our General Assembly is up for election this November 7, 2023.  In order for these Acts Of Barbarity to change, we need all 140 members to support this  endeavor.

Gun Violence in America is becoming,“ Almost as commonplace as brushing our teeth.”

Mission & Vision of GMW

Throughout the years Grandmothers, Mothers, Women (GMW) has championed many worthy initiatives, always addressed the impact of guns, drugs and suicide on our children, community and our country.

But our current focus is on the tragic and dire consequences surrounding the proliferation of guns in America. With, so little attention on the elephant in the room (Mental Health).  We are soliciting the involvement/support of all Democratic Leadership in particular and all politicians in general. GMW hopes to join in coalitions with other organizations and Virginians, to help stem the tide of Gun Violence. We also want our local, state, and federal governments to pass legislation to get these guns under control. Especially the banning of Assault Weapons.

GWM.believes that this issue is so important to the future of our children, families and communities at large,that we have developed both a Mission and Vision statements to guide our work. 

Mission

This effort to eradicate gun violence, beginning in the state of Virginia, is a clarion call to all grandmothers mothers and women ages (18 to 120) to use our collective power of our love, God, dollars and our vote to unite with all Democratic leadership, and every American whose soul is weary of the carnage that gun violence has reeked upon our children and our state of Virginia, in particular and America in general.

Vision

The safety of our children is of paramount importance.  The vision of GMW is to solicit the involvement of all grandmothers, mothers and women to re-create an environment in our country where every child can both feel safe and be safe.

The most recent statistics from the Gun Violence Archive reveals there were 648 mass shootings in America last year. Twenty of the incidents happened in Virginia. Mass shootings are  defined as events in which four or more people are shot or killed.

 Mass shootings in Virginia have killed 37 people and wounded 75, In 2022  an average of 1,019 people die and 2,050 were wounded by guns. 

Virginia is the 29th-highest rating of gun violence in the US. And, the 4th highest in mass shootings.

GUN DEATHS AMONG CHILDREN AND TEENS are the leading cause of death among children and teens in Virginia. An average of 85 children and teens died by guns. and 55% of these deaths are homicides. In the US, 58% of all gun deaths among children and teens are homicides.

We’re asking that you continue to follow GMW as we plan with concerted coordinated efforts to stem the tide of the proliferation of gun violence, in Virginia.

As we witness a racial reckoning in real time across the state — including school systems in Fairfax, Prince William and elsewhere taking action — in Hanover County leaders continue clinging to racist history by blatantly ignoring thousands of residents urging them, for years now, to rename Lee-Davis High School and Stonewall Jackson Middle School.

It doesn’t take a whole lot of sense, to understand why Black students are discouraged and distracted by school names and mascots that glorify the racist traitors who fought and died for the right to enslave Black people, perhaps even some of their ancestors. What it does take is empathy, compassion and a willingness to change.

Young Black Man beaten and shot in the mouth while handcuffed; By 6 Miss. white police officer; His Tongue had to be surgically remove. 

JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi authorities said Wednesday they’re investigating sheriff’s deputies involved in the shooting of a Black man who was hospitalized for nearly three weeks after being wounded last month in the late-night raid of a home. They found nothing. They were accusing the owner of the house, with selling drugs and dating white women.

Grandmothers, Mothers, and Women. (GMW), We along, with All decent Elected Official, Needs to hold those GOP and some Blue-Dog democrats, with condoning police brutality. Because, if you’re not apart of the solution, then you’re part of the problem. They can easily ban books, African American History and women rights. But, Don’t touch assault weapons and so-call 2nd amendment rights. The founding fathers had no idea of assault weapons.

GMW in particular and all people of color in General, we have to be just as angry about our young men killing each other.

Grassroots’ Alternatives to Violence:

  1. Empowering our neighborhoods to provide better opportunities in educational, economics, health-care and accessible transportation.
  2. Eradicating the underground economy of drugs, guns and other nefarious behaviors in so many of our urban communities, so it doesn’t have an opportunity to flourish. 
  3. Ensuring that our urban communities provide safe recreational facilities for our children that are conducive to their development and socialization from 2:00 pm to -8:00 pm Mondays through Fridays.
  4. Maintaining clean schools and neighborhoods, shows our children that we care.

GMW is aware that the structural cause of violence is poverty, unemployment, and insufficient education.

A. The Collaborative Forces needed to accomplish the above issues are:

  1. Parents
  2. Guardians
  3. Schools
  4. Faith and community based organizations
  5. City Government and reformed X-offenders.

Youth that are most likely to be involved in gun violence need to be specifically identified and target. Life skills opportunities should be provided for extremely: difficult to serve youth and young adults:

Grandmothers Mothers and Women (GMW), The TAPESTRY of True American History Means:  Weaving together Past, Presence and Future.

African Americans are largely the descendants of enslaved people who were brought from their African homelands by force to work in the New World. Their rights were severely limited, and they were long denied a rightful share in the economic, social, and political progress of the United States.

Conservative Americans are losing their minds in their efforts to only talk about American history that does not show how cruel One human being was capable of treating another. But, it happened and there’s nothing they can do to erase it.

So, Institutional racism, is the norm, rooted in societies history. It’s also known as systemic racism,  a form of racism that is embedded in the laws and regulations of a society or an organization. It manifests as discrimination in areas, such as criminal justice, employment, housing, health care, education and political representation. The term institutional racism was first coined in 1967 by Stokely, Carmichael and Charles V Hamilton, in black power, the politics of liberation.

Over 200 hundred  students at a Tuscaloosa, Ala., high school walk out of school in protest of being told they could not talk about American  or Blacks contributions to American  History before 1970.

Truman McCollom , a young Black man tased in an ambulance 6  times by  Killeen, Tx., Police  Officers , after having a seizure in his car at Burger King. He crashed  his car, deploying both air bags.

Our police officers don’t need more training, just being held accountable for their behavior. Get rid of qualified immunity. And see how fast the Blue  culture changes.

GMW we must be about the changes we want for our future, and the future of our children. economically , socially , and politically.

You sound  as if you were condemning  Donald Trump. The man who tried to overthrow our government. Because, your party has an unusual view of what democracy is all about.

Mrs. Huckabee, alternative truth is no longer valid in our political Arenas, you are no Press  Secretary where alternative truths was allowed. We need Bipartisan leadership.  You and Marjorie Taylor-Green has a very distorted view of what leadership looks like.

Biden was fantastic, he spoke to the United States of America. Now it’s up to Kevin McCarthy to lead his House Majority, and control his radical members who has no idea  of what’s serving the people of these United States of America is.

So America let’s get behind our president: Abolishing Qualified Immunity on a national level. So each of us can make sure our states and local police deal with the culture of the  Blue Shield. Protecting Good police-officers from  the retaliation of standing up for truth and good policing.

Racist stereotypes that originated with the enslavement, rape, torture, and forced labour of Africans Americans have long painted Black people as smelly and unkempt. Thus, Black parents were always committed to their children being presentable before the world: a sign that nothing was amiss in the household, that their children were loved and looked after.

It was a way of life and often the difference between life and living well.  In the hight of slavery clothing was important and many slaves were dressed in clothes made from flax and hemp. If they were valued, they were given cloth to make clothes or given one set of cloths twice a year depending on the quality. 

You could tell if you were Free or still in bondage by the clothes on your back. To that end, many people kept their ‘best clothes to socialise on the day off which was usually Sunday when their Master let then rest or attend church.

Historically, the visibility of black bodies, or black bodies taking up time and space, could be dangerous, “think of lynching’s and mob violence, during which, what was preferred was the invisibility of black bodies.  Black worship service became an expression that spoke for the visibility and importance of black bodies within the dominant social context.

Also Pinn added, “ testimony from former  slaves who argued that during the course of the week, The clothing and presentation was meant to present their bodies as a tool for the benefit of others. But, doing black worship service these former slaves testified they were able to alter that understanding of their bodies visually by changing their clothes.

From earlier on the churches was a space in which African-Americans connected to the divine, and to each other, in ways that allow them to rethink and reimagine created in God’s and their relationship to the nation.

For the first several hundred years of African-American presence in North America, they were denied systemic access to the written word. They would have to think of ways of expressing themselves and proclaiming their importance in-none written ways. They showed and sang their important. Their bodies became a living text.

QUALIFIED IMMUNITY

Qualified immunity is a court-created rule that limits victims of police violence and misconduct from holding officers accountable when they violate a person’s constitutional rights.

Tyre Nichols rights was violated, and it cost him his life.

Members, schools Bd members and every American with a heart, it’s time we get rid of qualified immunity. If you care about Tyre Nichols then use voice thru social media and contact your elected officials to make your voice is hear to abolish qualified immunity.

President Biden need to use his bullhorn to galvanize Congress and America to start advocating for Qualified Immunity.
